Alternate Solutions Health Network Appoints Louis A. Shapiro as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors

KETTERING, Ohio–Alternate Solutions Health Network (“ASHN”), a national home health leader, today announced the appointment of Louis A. Shapiro as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective immediately. As Executive Chairman, Mr. Shapiro will support ASHN’s focus on expanding access to high-quality homecare delivery through strategic partnerships with leading health systems. ASHN recently announced two joint venture agreements with Adena Health and North Kansas City Hospital to bring ASHN’s home health services to more patients and communities. These partnerships, combined with Mr. Shapiro’s appointment, underscore ASHN’s growth strategy and push towards further national expansion, meeting market demand as more health systems continue to recognize the importance of home-based care in producing better patient outcomes.

Mr. Shapiro joins ASHN’s Board of Directors with 40 years of experience in the healthcare industry, most recently serving for 17 years as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital for Special Surgery (“HSS”), the leading academic medical center focused on musculoskeletal health, before retiring in October 2023. Prior to HSS, Mr. Shapiro served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Clinical Enterprise at Geisinger Health System. Earlier in his career, Mr. Shapiro also held senior positions at McKinsey & Company, as well as in other health systems. Mr. Shapiro is currently a Senior Advisor at General Atlantic, a leading global growth investor, and serves on the Board of Directors of Zimmer Biomet. Mr. Shapiro has a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.
